Wordsstruggle to proceed out my mouthwhile funeral processionsraged-filled riotsand peaceful protestsin one voice cry “No justice, no peace”while Lady Justice turnsa blind eyefrom broken bronze bodies laidin mahogany“No justice, no peace!”readily perceived as a warcryyet a lament which leave lipsleaving hearts to sing the dirge“No justice, no peace”barely seeing justice carried outpeace becoming a deferred dream.It is saidall men are created equalcreated by their Creatorinalienable rights givenLife, Liberty, the pursuit of HappinessYet those of ebon huepursue this truth as but a dreamnot given dignity of being humaninstead treated as chattellike cattlesoulless beings viewed as propertyobjectifiedif not simply seen as otherexoticstrangething to be fearedWe existenslavedWe rebelslaughteredWe speaksilencedWe stand upfearedHow is ityou appreciate night skiessoiled earthmarvel at obsidianbe in awe of black holesyetonce your eyes beholdbeautiful black skinfear, hate, envy, disgustfumes from your pores
