Part-Time Gift Officer

Reports to: Executive Director

Location: Remote with some travel

Hours: 15–20 hours per week

Compensation: Commensurate with experience $35,000-$50,000

Position Summary:

The Witness Inc is seeking a passionate and results-driven Part-Time Gift Officer to cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors, with a primary focus on major and mid-level gifts. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, relationally gifted, and committed to advancing the mission of our organization to communicate the core concerns of the Black community and identify, train and fund Black Christian leaders who are addressing them through strategic fundraising efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

● Manage a portfolio of 50-75 current and prospective donors

● Create ask plans for each donor/prospect in the portfolio, and soliciting all donors (as appropriate)

● Conduct regular outreach through phone calls, emails, and personal visits (in-person or virtual) to deepen donor relationships

● Develop and implement individualized cultivation and stewardship plans

● Support fundraising campaigns and donor appeals with targeted communications and follow-up

● Work with leadership to identify and research new donor prospects

● Maintain detailed and timely donor records in CRM/database

● Attend development team meetings and contribute to fundraising strategy discussions

● Assist in planning and executing donor engagement events as needed

Qualifications:

● 5+ years of experience in fundraising and donor relations

● Proven success in cultivating and closing individual gifts

● Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

● Ability to work independently, manage time well, and meet deadlines

● Familiarity with donor CRM systems (e.g., Bloomerang, DonorPerfect, Salesforce)

● Passion for the mission and values of The Witness Foundation

Preferred Qualifications:

● Experience working in a small nonprofit setting

● Understanding of fundraising ethics and donor confidentiality

● Background in faith-based or social justice-oriented organizations a plus
